Palace Issues Fourteenth Clarification On Harry And Meghan – Further Clarification Expected

Buckingham Palace issued an official statement on Monday confirming that Prince Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and private citizens, in what royal commentators and Lord Chamberlain described as necessary as their return to Britain caused immediate confusion.

The couple, who stepped down from royal duties in 2020 in order to pursue independence and a life away from media intrusion, moved back to the UK last month with their two children, who have been enrolled in British schools, prompting immediate and extensive media coverage, a formal palace statement, and thousands of articles.

The Lord Chamberlain’s letter confirmed several things that were already confirmed, including that the Sussexes cannot use their HRH titles, cannot operate through the Royal Household, and must direct security concerns to the relevant police authorities rather than the palace — a clarification presumably aimed at nobody in particular, issued to everyone.

Harry and Meghan’s charitable foundation, Archewell Philanthropies, will continue to operate independently of the Royal Family, as it has done since 2020, when they left to operate independently of the Royal Family. Their Netflix deal, worth a reported $100 million, also continues independently of the Royal Family, who have not received a cut and would like this noted.

An agreement established by the late Queen Elizabeth, stipulated the couple could not be “half in, half out.” Monday’s letter confirmed they remain fully out – while it is now someone’s entire job to remain fully in, clarifying things about the couple.

No further clarification is expected until the next clarification.
