Trump accuses Belgium of harbouring WMD’s after US World Cup defeat

The United States was eliminated from its own World Cup on Monday night, losing 4-1 to Belgium in a result that experts described as “football” and the President described as “unconstitutional”.

The defeat came despite considerable preparation. Having personally called FIFA president Gianni Infantino at the weekend to have striker Folarin Balogun’s red card suspension overturned — an unprecedented intervention — Trump still watched his team lose 4-1 anyway.

“I asked for a review because I didn’t think it was a foul,” Trump confirmed on Monday. “And I didn’t know what the hell a red card was.” FIFA, for reasons it has declined to fully explain to anyone including Belgium, agreed.

Trump, taking to Truth Social after the final whistle, said Belgium had been “very dishonest” and raised unspecified concerns about its eastern border. Sanctions are reportedly under consideration over potentially hidden WMD’s.

The FIFA Appeal Committee chair, an American, was not involved in the original decision. FIFA noted this unprompted.

The tournament continues as all three host nations have now been eliminated.
