On the anniversary of October 7, how does the media portray a year of devastation?

It has been one year since the Hamas surprise attack on October 7, which killed 1,200 Israelis and led to the kidnapping of 250 more.

The resulting war has led to over 42,000 Palestinian deaths, with daily deaths exceeding all major conflicts in the 21st century and sparking the worst humanitarian crisis in 50 years.

Israel is engaged in a war that Prime Minister Netanyahu has described as “defending itself on 7 fronts against the enemies of civilization” – namely, the Gaza, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and the West Bank, which he called “Judea and Samaria”.

Silent marches and tributes took place around the world over the weekend in protest and remembrance of Palestinians who have died in what has been called by many as a genocide.

So after one year of ongoing devastation and destabilisation in the Middle East, let’s see how the papers covered the tragic anniversary.
