Deaths of Israeli soldiers amid war exposes bias

As the devastation of the Israel-Hamas war continues to unfold, media coverage is crowded, confusing, and conflicting.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, over 23,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 59,000 have been injured since October 7 – an overwhelming majority being children. The daily death toll now exceeds all conflicts in the 21st Century.

Human Rights Watch has said Israel’s war on Gaza has included “acts of collective punishment that amount to war crimes”. Israel’s death toll at the time of writing is 187.

Nine Israeli soldiers were killed in Gaza on Monday. It went largely uncovered by Western media in light of the coming ICJ genocide hearing, but outlets who did cover it were heavily criticised for their biased reporting and headlines, in a devastating war that has been relentlessly protested with calls for an immediate ceasefire.

So far, the White House has vetoed resolutions for an immediate ceasefire. This no doubt has influence coverage in American media, and it’s interesting to observe how the war was covered by other outlets around the same time.
