Nadine Shah – ‘To Be A Young Man’

Ahead of her debut album, Love Your Dum and Mad, dropping next month on R&S/Apollo, smouldering Northeastern – via Norway and Pakistan – songstress Nadine Shah has unveiled the video for her latest single, ‘To Be A Young Man’.

The accompanying clip for ‘To Be A Young Man’ offers up a stark portrayal of what Shah describes as the “lost youth” of today, splicing together footage of a lecherous old barfly, his youthful – but equally lewd – self and anthropomorphic locusts – a thinly-veiled metaphor for the pest-like nature of the pub’s regulars. Set against the track’s brooding, fuzz-laden form, it’s certainly an unnerving juxtaposition; one that perfectly encapsulates the guilty nostalgia of ‘To Be A Young Man’.
