Jeremy Hunt set to announce £900 tax cut in Spring Budget
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to announce a 2p cut in national insurance for 27 million people in a pledge to “make work pay” and win over voters with a promise of “more opportunity and more prosperity”.
Combined with the existing 2p cut to national insurance announced last November, the tax cut is work around £900 for the average worker in the UK.
Ahead of the full announcement tomorrow (Wednesday), Hunt’s tax gamble has been scrutinised by the media, with right wing outlets praising a return to traditional Conservative tax cuts, and left wing outlets expressing concern over the impact it will have on already struggling social services.
As with all budget announcements, things are little more complicated than that, and we’ll have full coverage tomorrow. However, let’s take a look at what the media is speculating and the angle they’ve taken in the lead up to the budget.
