Farage urges public to stop linking him with far-right ideologies
Nigel Farage has firmly demanded that people immediately stop referring to the nationwide anti-immigrant far-right disturbances as the “Farage Riots,” arguing that it’s an unjust characterization based solely on the fact that he has been enthusiastically stirring the pot and calling for people, to, well, riot.
Just days after playing a key role in spreading anti-immigrant misinformation that triggered the initial riot in Southport, Farage has insisted that people refrain from blaming him for the violent actions of individuals who have heard his speeches and find themselves in complete agreement with his views.
Farage addressed the label by saying, “Simply because I’ve spent the last two decades portraying immigrants as the root of all evil, pointed to small boats and implied that their passengers are lawbreakers, suggested our country has been overrun, does not mean I’m in any way accountable for the public’s extreme reaction to the idea of our nation being besieged by criminal invaders. If those things lead to unrest, that’s certainly not on me.”
