Introducing: Black Orange Juice

The latest project to come from the ever fruitful mind of Hyperdub‘s Ossie (here alongside his best friends, Paul Black and Tilz), Black Orange Juice vibe on sleek, soulful house with more than a pinch of garage’s more introspective side. With a debut EP, 3 Started Alone, set for release on the exemplary True Panther Sounds imprint (Delorean, Cloud Nothings, King Krule) next month, theirs could yet be a defining sound of 2013.

Below, you can check out 3 Started Alone‘s lead track, ‘Alone‘. From lowly beginnings swathed in washes of synth chords and rustling, almost 2-step beats, Ossie gradually allows the vocals of both Black and Tilz to gently flutter in, taking the track’s driving seat and never letting go. We’ll have to wait until nearer the EP’s release to hear more, but for now it’s a bracing introduction: a luscious, late-night tale that’s both emotionally vibrant and deeply invigorating.
