Introducing: SHINIES

Manchester’s finest, indie pop band SHINIES are ready to release their debut EP, ‘Tangle’ on August 12th. Produced by MJ of Hookworms, and mixed by Rory Attwell, the band are a brilliant mix of fresh talent and chilled shoegaze sounds.

2012 saw SHINIES release just two singles, but begin to build a huge fan base and music industry following. The band were born through a series of late night jams by original trio Ric Stringer, Tom Habens and Adam Davison in south Manchester in 2011. Their ability to write catchy melodies over loud guitar licks, solidified their love for music, and cheap cider. Since then, Joe Fisher has joined the band on bass. The debut EP is by far their most refined collection to date, producing four euphoric melody-driven lo-fi pop classics. The EP opens with ‘Taste’, a fantastic catchy distortion of guitar progressions and breathy vocals, it is a good choice for opening track. The chilled efforts of ‘Plasticine’ rely more on strong guitar solos and drum shuffles, while ‘Salt’ allows newest band member Joe, to shine with his heavy bass lines. The EP closes with ‘Vitamins’, a song that bathes in classic shoegaze essence, and is an atmospheric and ambient mixture of heavy instruments woven throughout breezy vocals. To support the release of ‘Tangle’, SHINIES will be playing in The Victoria, Dlaston on August 17th.
