Introducing: Skinny Lister
Far from the ordinary, Skinny Lister is a group that brings back those foot tapping folk tunes that had us dancing for hours on end. But what gives this group that genuine comfy feel we long for when listing to music of such? Is it their versatility which caters to all your musical emotions? Or is it the playful aura that they radiate during their live performances? Whatever it is, it’s working.
Dan Hepinstall and Lorna Thomas lead this London based five piece band and have travelled all over the world sharing the cheerful disposition they are ultimately known for. Yet, their true spirit is a mixture of the sprightly childhood of Lorna–who spent much of her time in local folk clubs and Dan’s long standing interest in the Thameside folk scene. But the passion for their traditional feel extends to the other band member as well. Lorna’s brother Max, Sam ‘Muele’ Brace and Dan Gray also bring their vocal instrumental talents to the table.
They dance, they sing and they have created some of your favourite English folk songs including, ‘Plough & Orion’, ‘December’, and ‘Kite Song’, just to name a few. We love them, they’re brilliant, and they have given a new spin on the old-style folk, so hats off to you Skinny Lister.
