Introducing: Munich
No, we’re not here to introduce the city of Munich, nor is the band this post is about from Germany. But actually the seaside – Brighton. A traditional five-piece band, Stuart Slade (vocals), James Mckeown (guitar, piano, vocals), Stuart Weller (guitar), Josh Holmes (drums), and Tom Howland (bass); the band is proving that making good alt- rock n’ roll with some cinematic elements, is still worth doing. The concept can be forgoteen with all the bands that are being so innovate because they are crossing electro-dico with alt-indie punk, which can very quickly turn into sounding like a cat in a car crash.
They released their debut EP, Where are you now, last November that was produced by Paul Corkett (The Cure, Placebo, Nick Cave, Bjork, and Billy Clyro). With the release they saw two sold out launch shows in Brighton and London, and set off on an 11 date debut UK tour, which gained them a slew of new fans. They now have a new release on 20th June, single ‘All Sussed Out’ with special b side of ‘I Drove All Night’, a cover the band did for a compilation in honour of Roy Orbison 75th birthday.
Munich is a band of musicians that know to play their instruments, and their singer knows how to sing. It’s a simple formula that many may find boring with all the different hybrids that have taken over the music scene, but those still wishing for some good guitar based music with a big sound, simply hit play.
