Introducing: Tasseomancy
Once known as neo-folk duo Ghost Bees, Canadian twins, Sari and Romy Lightman have changed their name and sound. Now working under the name Tasseomancy (the art of divination using tea leaves, wine sediments, or coffee grounds, in case you wanted to know.) they’ve created a richer sound by incorporating some booming drums and horns.
Their voices sounds almost identical to Alela Diane’s with that certain lilt at the end of each line, and the velvety guitar work adds a sort of midnight mist to the tunes to help this duo stand out amongst the crowd. Preview track ‘Soft Feet’, off their album Ulalume, does start off keeping in the neo-folk feel, it has a great build to and ruckus of an ending that shows the twins are stretching their musical limbs.
