Introducing: Valentina

With her heart on her sleeve, Valentina is someone you’ll be keeping your eyes open for. Taking inspiration from the classics, such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King, Valentina sings of first love, heartbreak, family and everything in between.

The folk-pop singer took it upon herself to learn the guitar and dulcimer, and after successfully grasping the art of playing them both, Valentina put together her debut EP ‘Weights’. The EP is a five-track record that encapsulates an honest account of growing up and dealing with all of life’s little indecencies. Unlike most solo artists, Valentina has a very ethereal presence that slowly creeps into her music and keeps you hooked. Listening to ‘Weights’ is almost like reading her diary; the diary is firmly open and she wills you to read on.

Valentina’s silky vocals are accompanied by the production work of Kwes (The XX & Michachu and the Shapes), which gives the EP a great textured sound.

To listen to Weights in full, you can head over to Soundcloud (or just below). But if you really fall for Valentina you can pick the EP up via Rough Trade or on general release from the 18th April.
