The Roy Lichtenstein Foundation has launched the long-awaited, comprehensive online publication, Roy Lichtenstein: A Catalogue Raisonné (RLCR).

A massive scholarly undertaking, all art historians, museum and art-world professionals, Lichtenstein enthusiasts and interested readers can explore more than 5,500 recognized works by Roy Lichtenstein (1923–1997) in all media in public and private collections worldwide.

This catalogue significantly expands upon and corrects previous research. It provides high-quality illustrations and a comprehensive account of all known paintings, sculptures, drawings, collages, prints, commissions and other artworks by the artist. Numerous previously undocumented or undiscovered works have been added to the corpus.

The RLCR is born-digital, with linked connections between artworks, exhibitions, literature, archival materials, a chronology and more. The website features artworks in relative sizes, connects them—when known—to the studio in which they were created and explores Lichtenstein’s various source materials. Readers can study the artist’s sketchbooks page-by-page. An interactive tool allows for bookmarking and annotating artworks.

The RLCR is freely available on the Foundation’s recently released catalogue website.
