#LCMSS Backstage: Katie Eary
Katie Eary’s show was, as ever, a fantastical tour de force of colour, brightness and brilliance, uniting the disparate themes of acid house, Edinburgh football fans and African wildlife with aplomb. The oversize leopard-print being re-rendered in pinks and accessorised with one of #LCM’s over-riding trends – the skateboard (prepare for broken arms and grazed knees next season kids) – Eary’s collection was softened by the many bikini-clad women on the catwalk. The clubkid streetwear-vibe was given a sharp edge with impeccable tailoring touches, and while I would perhaps have liked an extra layer to the prints and colour palette, there’s a glamour flowing through this collection that you wouldn’t normally associate with streetwear; one that makes the garments and the future direction of Eary’s work all the more desirable.
