Glasgow Film Festival 2026

Glasgow Film Festival has unveiled the full programme for its 2026 edition, featuring 126 films from 44 countries across 12 days. Running from 25 February to 8 March, the festival will present 16 world, European and international premieres, alongside 68 UK premieres and 18 Scottish premieres.

For the first time, the festival will both open and close with UK premieres shot in Glasgow. GFF26 opens with Everybody to Kenmure Street, a documentary about Glasgow’s high-profile act of civil resistance, executive produced by Emma Thompson, and closes with California Schemin’, the directorial debut of James McAvoy.

The line-up includes high-profile UK premieres such as Angelina Jolie in fashion drama Couture, Charli XCX-led relationship drama Erupcja, Olivier Assayas’s political thriller The Wizard of the Kremlin starring Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Paul Dano, and two Willem Dafoe films, Late Fame and The Birthday Party. Scottish premieres feature Jim Jarmusch’s Venice Golden Lion winner Father Mother Sister Brother, Mark Jenkin’s time-bending mystery Rose of Nevada, and the dark thriller The Good Boy starring Andrea Riseborough and Stephen Graham.

Scottish cinema is a major focus this year, with 13 homegrown films in the programme. Highlights include the world premiere of Molly vs THE MACHINES, the Gaelic-language documentary Sailm nan Daoine, and new work from Peter Mullan, Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds. Horror strand FrightFest returns with multiple world premieres, while special events include immersive screenings of Carrie and Moulin Rouge!.

The festival will also celebrate Marilyn Monroe’s centenary with screenings of her classic films, and spotlight Swedish cinema in its country focus strand. With 42 debut or second features and 50 foreign-language films, GFF26 continues its emphasis on new voices alongside international stars.

Tickets go on general sale on 26 January.
