BLAST: New Works by Dominic Beattie

BLAST is a striking new exhibition showcasing the latest works by Dominic Beattie. Known for his dynamic use of pattern and form, Beattie continues to challenge the boundaries of abstraction with a bold visual vocabulary rooted in 20th-century geometric traditions.

BLAST marks an evolution in Beattie’s practice, as he delves deeper into the material essence of painting—experimenting not just with what is seen, but how it’s made. Drawing inspiration from the Modernist canon, the exhibition reveals a painter deeply engaged with innovation and the transformative possibilities of process and technique.

“Balonmano”

Beattie’s practice spans painting, sculpture, and curation, and he divides his time between London and Spain. This international influence is subtly felt in the works, which often hint at architectural motifs, rhythmic forms, and a uniquely hybrid visual syntax. The result is a body of work that speaks fluently in pattern, color, and constructed form—without ever becoming decorative.

In recent years, Beattie has cemented his position within the UK art scene through exhibitions at institutions such as the Saatchi Gallery, The Royal Academy, JGM Gallery, and Fold Gallery. His accolades include the prestigious UK/Raine Prize for painting in 2015 and a recent win at the Otero Baena painting competition in Galicia, Spain (2023), further affirming his international relevance.

“Heraldry”

With BLAST, Beattie doesn’t just show us paintings—he proposes a new way of thinking about them. This is an exhibition that invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and consider the subtle alchemy of material, method, and meaning.

The exhibition runs to June 7.
