Yaeji returns to the dancefloor with latest single, “booboo”

Yaeji has released her latest single, booboo after taking a break from the club scene to focus on her debut album, With A Hammer, released in 2023.

booboo features energetic basslines and makes clear nods to her 2017 hit Raingurl.

In the song, Yaeji performs a line that goes, “You know the one time I wrote a banger that goes like,” before launching into a sample of the infectious chorus from Raingurl.

Discussing the new track, she reflects: “I believe that a bit of distance can enhance one’s appreciation. After the massive attention from Raingurl, I stepped away from the club scene and dance music. This break has given me a renewed perspective and appreciation for it.”

She continues: “This year marks a decade for many of the parties my friends and I used to attend, so the release of booboo now feels like a full-circle moment. It’s been exhilarating to cheer on my friends as they’ve grown as DJs and started their own labels, creating inclusive and safe spaces. Rejoining them on the dancefloor has been a joy.”
