Unreleased D’Angelo Recordings Surface Online

A collection of previously unheard D’Angelo tracks has appeared on YouTube, offering a rare glimpse into sessions from across the artist’s career, including material linked to the Voodoo era.

The recordings were uploaded over the past week by an account called the short archives., which has shared five unreleased songs attributed to the late R&B and soul musician. Among them is Bitch, a long-rumoured track recorded with The Roots’ Questlove during early work that would later shape Voodoo (2000). The song was originally intended for the soundtrack to the 1996 film Set It Off but was ultimately not used.

The uploads also include demo versions of Voodoo-era material such as Mariah, Betray My Heart and We Gotta Run & Pray Together, alongside a 10-minute demo of Back To The Future from Black Messiah.

D’Angelo died in October at the age of 51 following a private battle with pancreatic cancer.
