Review: LADYMONIX – Welcome 2 My House
Landing in Detroit via Baltimore, LADYMONIX’s latest EP, Welcome 2 My House, incorporates the old-school sound of Midwestern house with refreshing crisp drums and driving basslines.
Opener In A Daze is hypnotic, filled with the classically familiar and punchy 909s that builds and self-destructs with anxious anticipation. So Sweet follows, bringing in disco vocals atop the muffled sounds of vintage hi-hates, while the title track flirts with the unforgettable sweaty late night underground house anthemic affair.
The EP closes with Desire, where the choppy refrains “I need you”, “I want you”, are elevated out of emotional submission by a bleeping space-like melody that soothes as much as it excites.
It’s a cracking summer soundtrack, rooted in the sacred charms of US house, and it’s out now. Give it a listen below.
