Introducing: Sixth June

Let me set the scene: its 2008, in the depths of Belgrade and Lidija Andonov and Laslo Antal are working hard to produce their dark, electro pop. With their mix of sharp synth instrumentals and eerie vocals reminiscent to Depeche Mode and a little of the Eurythmics; Sixth June are like a decent throwback to the eighties. It’s not often you get one of those.

After releasing their debut album, ‘Everytime’ back in March 2010 on German label Genetic Music / No EMB Blanc and playing to most of Europe, the band are back with their follow up release, ‘Back for a Day’. The single, which is due for an April release, encapsulates their atmospheric sound and creates a powerful visual image that, if music could be photographed, it would be printed in Vogue. Moving away from their previous label, ‘Back for a day’ will be released on the Italian Mannequin label.

Last year’s Berlin Music Festival saw Sixth June’s video for ‘Oh no it’s burning’ selected and projected as part of the festival program. It’s no wonder really, as the stunning visuals are like mini-film noirs.

If you’re jet setting around Europe this summer, you can catch the duo at one of the following dates:

-21st April: King Kong Club, Berlin
-5th May: Fanfulla, Rome, Italy
-7th May: Millan, Italy
-20th August: Kulturcafe @ the University of Mainz, Germany

We of course, have a free download of the forthcoming single, just click and play on the link below!
