Introducing: Milano Sun
If we can tear you away from Milano Sun’s promotional shot for a second, we’d like to demonstrate that there is more to the semi-naked Swedes than snail trails and wet chests.
This trekant (Swedish for mÃnage a trios, if our choice of online translator is to be trusted) hails from Gothenburg, the unofficial city of cool. Johan Jonasson, Love Sivik and David Axelsson formed the band whilst on a trip throughout Europe and also managed to write all of the songs on their debut album during that time. That’s pretty good going for your average gap year, if you ask us. The album is expected later on this year and each song on it was written in a different European city. No points for guessing which country the band were in when they decided on the name Milano Sun.
If the boys’ first single, Already Gone, is to be taken as an indication of the quality of its parent, then ‘looking forward to the album’ can be our understatement of the week. It’s a sweeping, catchy affair that will have you tapping your foot in no time. There is something quite melancholic about the lyrics but the production uplifts the whole thing, particularly with the beautiful middle-8, where things quieten down only to then explode straight back into the sombre-pop chorus.
In summary: not ugly, not lacking in tune.
You can follow the boys on Twitter here.
