Introducing: Library Voices

Now that summer has finally arrived, all we can think about is ice cream and sun screen. And music, of course. And there aren’t many better ways for music and sunshine to meet than in the guise of Library Voices, or as they’ll be known come August, the soundtrack to your summer.

Canadian seven-piece Library Voices make summer tinged surf-pop gems in the same vein as Real Estate or Best Coast that make you long for the sun, sea and sand of the California coastline. The only difference is that they couldn’t be further away from the beaches that their songs clearly long for – Canada isn’t known for its sunshine.

Recorded over ten days in the throws of winter, their new record, Summer of Lust, couldn’t be further from the snowbound conditions behind its inception. I haven’t heard a record scream summer quite like this collection of short, sweet odes to the sunshine for a very long time.
