Introducing: Django Django

Enter the weird and wonderful world of Django Django. They’ve been away for a year finishing up recording their debut album. The first single ‘Waveforms’ is now available to stream.

The first thing my mind associated with this band’s sound was that of a style similar to the funky, simplicity of the songs often featured in the Mighty Boosh. This quirky backdrop to the relatively monotonous harmonies portrays a sense of fun and definite obscurity.

Give way for humerous mystical visualisation and escapism to this track, if you can. Things develop into an overlapping tribal-esque medley of the deep-set vocals and beats of the woodland-like instruments. A line of spacey synth about as thin as string remains steady to assure the group don’t get too earthy about their sound.

This is a band to be curious about and a band I want to hear more from. Harmonies can be a truly powerful weapon if used efficiently, so I’m gearing up for an album capable of sending me from a jungles wilderness to a galaxy far far away.
