Introducing: Ambassadeurs
Come A Little Closer is the first official release from Brighton based Ambassadeurs.
From bedroom roots learning his craft on an 8 Bit Amiga computer and mastering the Octamed, this 24 year old has already gained more than enough ability required by established and firmly experienced electronic artists.
This beat machine of a man has been quietly amassing a serious following on SoundCloud, bringing him to the attention of UK Indie label Jalapeno amongst others.
The music itself is a mixture of hip-hop, dub, jazz and electronica. Vibrant beats meet angelic chimes of sound. There’s a pure sense of positivity and a crisp vibe of exploration – something considered almost a necessity for good electronic music. Resemblance to Gold Panda appears relevant, as Ambassadeurs has already played under the fellow rising star. You could also think along the lines of Moby without the vocals – for some, a concept considered quite ideal.
As the tracks develop, you visualise images being created as if a pen were drawing lines on a blank canvas that progress and eventually turn into live visuals. Higher Ground I found took me on a mysterious night drive, with the glow of passing streetlights causing a comfortable tiredness, sending my listening mindset into a mellow abyss.
There’s a natural sense of delicacy at times, however with a complimentary bassy dub emphasis backing each track behind the scales of electronica, the credibility and talent of this emerging artist stands firm.
The debut EP consists of 4 tracks – The mainly instrumental Come a little Closer and Can We Pretend, Higher featuring the vocal talents of Elbi and Ain’t That Peculiar whose vocalist while obvious shall remain nameless.
Words – James Uden
