Introducing: Adian Coker
Not usually a rap kinda gal, I figured the trans-Atlantic praise for new talent Adian Coker warranted giving his stuff a listen. Even to my untrained ear, it’s obvious this South London hustler’s got some skills. Everything Adian creates is written and produced by the man himself, successfully fusing hometown hip hop influences with inspiration from hitmakers across the pond, ranging as far and wide as Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bobby Caldwell and Steely Dan.
The first release from Adian’s new Young World mixtape is ‘Cream’ – an entirely self-produced track that’s already got the attention of everyone from XXL and VIBE to the indie trendmakers at Daytrotter. Accompanied by an epic video from director Drew Cox, it’s one hell of an introduction to this super slick one-man act.
