Groundbreaking studies discover COVID school closures impacted learning
A painstaking waste of time recently concluded that the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns, restrictions and school closures created “the most severe disruption to education systems in recent history”.
The revelation that not attending in-person classes and adapting to virtual learning within the confines of a home environment has affected cognitive development and educational progress is nothing short of an astonishing epiphany.
It now appears that learning outside of an classroom environment, surrounded by additional stress factors, a lack of daily routine as a sense of purpose, being separated from friends and social interaction, navigating technological flaws, and trying to remain productive despite surrounding distractions have negatively affected children’s educational progress.
Conclusively, it is considered ‘safer’ for children’s mental health to attend school than stay at home.
Researchers focused on the development of young children and adolescents for the purpose of this groundbreaking work. It remains unclear how the mental health of young adults and the general population around the world has been affected by the pandemic.
The study, which is actually a compilation of other pre-existing studies conducted in 11 countries around the world, found an increase in stress and anxiety.
This is no doubt surprising, since the rest of us have been largely unaffected by the pandemic and in no way understand how children, particularly those in the fundamental stages of development, would have had a negative experience.
Here’s 8 minutes of people stating the obvious.
