A new immersive exhibition celebrating the life and work of David Bowie has now opened at London’s Lightroom, bringing together rare archive material and large-scale projection to explore the artist’s enduring cultural impact.

David Bowie: You’re Not Alone, produced by Lightroom and designed by creative studio 59 Productions, draws on thousands of hours of footage from the David Bowie Archive in New York, including previously unseen material alongside iconic performances spanning his career.

The show traces Bowie’s evolution from early works such as Space Oddity through Diamond Dogs and “Heroes”, to his final album Blackstar, presenting them within a multi-sensory environment built around Lightroom’s 11-metre-high projection walls.

Organised into thematic chapters, the exhibition explores key ideas that shaped Bowie’s work, including theatricality, spirituality and the transformative role of creativity, combining performance footage with photography, lyrics, drawings and personal notes.

Audio plays a central role in the experience, with a newly configured sound design by Gareth Fry, known for his work on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Using a HOLOPLOT spatial audio system, the show layers music with excerpts from interviews recorded across five decades, presenting Bowie’s own voice as the narrative thread throughout.

Directed by Mark Grimmer and Tom Wexler, You’re Not Alone builds on the legacy of the acclaimed David Bowie Is exhibition, offering audiences both a retrospective and an immersive interpretation of the artist’s creative world.

The production aims to appeal to long-time fans as well as newcomers, positioning itself as both a tribute and a reintroduction to one of popular music’s most influential figures.

Now booking: 22 April – 10 October 2026
