Right-ring extremists see signal to distribute Meinkampf after Elon Musk “lifts his arm”

While most people might opt for a thumbs-up or a simple wave, Musk decided to channel his inner 1940s dictator, extending his arm in a manner eerily reminiscent of a Nazi salute at a rally following Trump’s inauguration.

Social media erupted with debate about whether Musk was performing a historical reenactment or simply inventing a new way to say hello.

The Anti-Defamation League, perhaps in a bid to maintain some semblance of calm, suggested that Musk’s gesture was an innocent mistake made in enthusiasm. Because nothing says “I’m excited” like mimicking one of history’s most infamous salutes.

Meanwhile, Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz took the opportunity to exit Musk’s social media platform, X, citing concerns over algorithms promoting far-right extremism. One might wonder if Musk’s next venture will be a masterclass titled “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.”

As the dust settled, Musk remained characteristically uninterested in the matter, choosing instead to share a clip of his speech, and posting on X, “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

There is, of course, the argument that it is quite like a Nazi salute, and his grandparents were, in fact, supporters of Hitler. But I’m sure that’s a coincidence.

However, the “misunderstood arm stretch” has somehow sparked a resurgence of fascist enthusiasm among those who clearly need less internet and more hobbies.

So, of course. A big misunderstanding and we’re all tired – specifically of right-wing extremists.
