Call Super releases new EP
DJ and musician Call Super has released a new EP, Swallow Me, takes inspiration from melodic opera samples and recordings, as well as poetic writings from the diaries of Samuel R. Delaney.
The first (title) track, Swallow Me, incorporates samples from a 2019 performance in New York by the US opera singer Kamala Sankaram – in particular, a vocal sample that replicates the Ancient Greek ololyga, a ritual shriek between women.
It is accompanied by I Love Like Your Men, an homage to the diaries of US author Samuel R. Delaney.
About the record, Call Super (Joseph Richmond-Seaton) said, “When we are young we show our love by emulating those we love. Tributes, respect, adoration, getting lost in things. Trying to become a person we wish to be. Hold that process and don’t be afraid to let it always hold you too.”
