Papers U-turn against Tories following Sunak and Javid resignation
Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned on Tuesday evening, sparking further Tory cabinet upheaval and questions around Johnson’s leadership.
National sentiment appears to be increasingly frustrated with the Prime Minister, which was reflected in front page headlines Wednesday morning, regardless of political leaning.
However, centre-right publications adopted a more pragmatic analysis of ‘responsible leadership’, political honesty and integrity, rather than a grimly sensationalistic call for resignation and inevitable doom for the Conservatives which could be seen in publications that lean towards the left.
