Introducing: Flowers and Sea Creatures

Flowers and Sea Creatures are emerging. As delightful and graphic as that imagery can potentially be, this band are far away from the monstrous likes of Cloverfield, but more represent an audial replica of the divine beauty brought by the development of an elegant flower’s growth.

This encompassing duo debuted with an EP on Buzzin’ Fly in 2010 and have been gaining critical acclaim since their Montreal beginnings. Claimed to be of a reclusive nature, their material more than speaks for itself and brings solid justification as to why sometimes it’s just best to leave an artist to it.

Graham Baxter provides Thom Yorke-esque vocals whilst playing gently moving acoustic strums of guitar. The clarity and range of both is gripping as he provides crisp simplicity to hauntingly brilliant levels. Kosta Megalos provides synth chords of complimentary and further atmosphere and mystery in addition to this.

The band have a curious tone. At times, they’ll turn darker and go off key just briefly, exaggerating an evocative approach – as heard with Radiohead trademarks that truly encompass the listener. Attempt to label them as you will, the variety is there to appeal to fans varying the scales of electronically creative and alternative music genres.

Flowers and Sea Creatures are a band with relevance and superb talent and ability. If their songs alone aren’t enough to grip you then be sure to attend their debut live London appearance at The Nest on Fri Sep 9.

Aside from that, their debut album is due September 26th.
